Everyone here has been consumed with Porsche stuff lately. What’s not to love.
I think I’m convinced that when it comes to releasing rare shit, Porsche has the game on lockdown. Everytime I think I’ve seen ’em all, I learn about a new one!
This is the Carrera CS. Known as Option Code M637 if you were buying your car as a factory order. Under 350 were made (2 books I have here at home say 312, a couple online sources say 300, one magazine article I read tonight says 340 – who knows, it’s not alot!), which makes it a winner in my book. It’s a basic Carrera 3.2 from the late 80’s, but had Bilsteins, and a revised ecu with a slightly higher redline. This was their first foray into producing a lighweight, no frills package that was still streetable – similar to the GT3-RS package of today. This car had zero power anything, no rear wiper, no rear seats, no radio, no undercoating, no sunroof, no a/c- zero. What you did get was a factory lightweight model that would do 0-60 in the mid 5 second range. Not too shabby for ’88.
