The Throwout Bearing, Revisted

ACT has recently announced their Monoloc Wedge Collar upgrade kit for the Mitsbishi Evo, Subaru WRX and STi, Mazda RX7. This setup directly replaces the 2 piece unit found in these pull type clutches with a single piece unit. This upgrade will eliminate the dreaded snap ring from popping off during hard driving. Evo guys know this sensation in particular – once that snap ring pops off, the clutch no longer works and often, the clutch components can be damaged and in need of replacement.

The single piece design (made of hardened Chromoly steel) equally distributes the load on the bearing, and thus on the pressure plate regardless of how hard the car is being driven. This will work on any stock or aftermarket clutch for the above cars that utilize a stock style throw out bearing.
