World’s Most Complete Evo Timing Belt Kit

15 Nov

As we all know the timing belt is a critical piece of equipment on your Evo. As these cars age and accumulate miles, the belt stretches and performance and reliability can be compromised. Mitsubishi suggests replacing the belt every 60,000 miles under normal use, and if your car is raced, even shorter intervals are suggested. For this reason, we have put together a comprehensive timing belt replacement kit that includes everything needed for a full, complete timing belt replacement job. Alot of times, people take shortcuts on this and only replace the belt itself. Then a few thousand miles down the road, they find some of the other components wearing, or leaking, or making noises that were not there before and are forced to do the whole job over again. Do it right the first time and don’t be caught short. If you’re bringing these parts to your mechanic, he will thank you for giving him all the complete parts needed. If you’re having friends help you with the install over a weekend, when it’s 11PM on a Saturday and there are no parts stores open to replace that noisy idler pulley, you’ll be thankful you got them all as part of the kit.

Our kit contains the following:

Timing belt, balance shaft belt, balance shaft tensioner, timing belt tensioner, AMS timing belt tool, serpentine belt (please choose with or without air conditioning below), accessory belt idler pulley, water pump, water pump gasket, thermostat, thermostat gasket. All parts carry a 1 year no hassle warranty (excludes shipping)

Need to customize it with a performance timing/balance shaft belt? No problem – we offer Gates, Greddy and HKS. Need to eliminate the balance shaft belt? No problem, we offer a kit for that too!

Prices start at $490 shipped. Contact us at z1sales@z1auto.com to order yours

4G63 Go Kart….

13 Sep

I saw this on one of the many forums that I frequent and I thought it would be cool to share it. I know its kind of old but still promising nonetheless.

I believe the go kart was owned by ASA Perfromance  (I’ve never heard of them either) at the time that the video was made. Supposedly they purchased the go-kart from eBay for approximately $2500 and at the time it was only making 240hp. I believe they made some additional upgrades to get it where it was in the video. It definitely still needs some more TLC.

Here are some pictures taken before ASA Performance took ownership:

and here are the specs of the setup at that same time:

CHASSIS:

MIG welded steel tube frame. 16 Gauge 1″square tubing and 1 3/4″ Dia. 0.134″ wall round tubing.

ENGINE:

It is powered by a 2.0 Liter Mitsubishi 4G63 turbo 4-cylinder. The engine is from a 1990 FWD DSM, and is the stock turbo (14b), stock injectors (450cc). It is intercooled with an Isuzu NPR intercooler, custom piping, and a 1G DSM BOV.

TRANSMISSION:

A stock 5-speed manual from a 1990 DSM, unequal length CV joints.

COOLING:

Water: Two Honda Civic radiators + electric fans.

Oil: 1990 DSM air to air oil cooler

FRONT SUSPENSION/ BRAKES:

First generation DSM hubs and disc brakes, single-piston calipers, and stainless brake lines.

Oval track Appleton 9lb aluminum steering rack, ~1 turn lock to lock.

Double A-arm suspension, Custom-made upper ball-joint adaptors.Inboard Yamaha R6 coil-overs, adjustable damping, with adjustable wheel-rate and ride height.

REAR SUSPENSION/ BRAKES:

First generation DSM hubs and disc brakes, single-piston calipers, and stainless brake lines.

Multi Rod-end links. Bellcranked Showa/Honda F4i coil-overs, adjustable damping, with adjustable wheel-rate and ride height.

WHEELS & TIRES:

Starion/Conquest Wheels.

16×7” front with 205 Kumho tires

16×8” rear with 245 Kumho tires

It would be kind of cool to have one of these at the shop to tinker around with.
