Brembo Application Guide 2013

Brembo 2013 Application Guide with MSRP

Brembo Brakes has just released their 2013 application guide. In the enclosed pdf you’ll find every big brake kit they offer. The Brembo High Performance Program now offers 1000+ GT/GT-R brake upgrades for the most popular sports cars, sedans, trucks and SUV’s.

GT brake kits are based around a high performance, radial-mounted fixed aluminum caliper, combined with large high 2 piece performance rotors, and performance brake lines. These kits are substantially larger than factory brakes, and offer greater heat dispersion, lower unsprung weight, and improved brake torque. The calipers come in red black or silver with the “Brembo” logo prominently displayed.

GT-R brake kits are based around a special monoblock, billet aluminum caliper. These are an even stiffer, stronger design compared to the GT kits, special stainless radiators for the pistons allowing greater heat dissipation and large 2 piece floating rotors sized up to 405mm in diameter and 34mm thick. They also include more track oriented pads vs the standard GT kit as well.

One Subaru’s Journey

22 Sep

Being stationed in Japan opens up a lot of opportunities for a car guy. Suddenly all the cars you’ve lusted at over the years in magazines you couldn’t quite understand, are nearly at your disposal. The roads you’ve memorized from watching the Best Motoring Touge DVD’s 1001 times are within driving distance. And the parts….oh the parts!

For a car guy, being able to serve your country, and do it in a country that is the foundation of everything that makes you go ga-ga car wise, would be quite a lot of fun. The guy who owns the car here is a car guy through and through. But his Subaru is what punches all the right numbers for me. Because it reminds me so much of my old RS. This car started life as a 2000 STi V6 Type R that when acquired, had a few mods. My own personal Subaru muse 🙂 The owner has steadily modified it over the years with tons of mods. 6 speed swap, EJ257 block (forged internals), AVCS equipped EJ207 heads (with Kelford cams), ATP 35R, big FMIC, coil on plug ignition, a full helping of STi Group N and Cusco bits, LINK programmable ecu (I had one of those too!). It’s quite a bit of kit as our friends on the other side of the pond would say. Fast forward a few years, and while out and about, the car is rear ended in a hit and run. What’s more, he’s now planning on headed back to the states later in 2012. So what is a car nut, totally in love with what he’s created in Japan, to do? The pics speak for themselves! He decided to totally strip it down, and take every nut and bolt, every covetted part, ship it back to the states (being military has it’s perks…the parts ship free!), and start over. Same soul, different skin. The plan upon return is to insert everything into a USDM car. I see visions of the Bionic Man playing in my head “we can rebuild it, we have the technology”.

Those of us who truly love our cars, believe they do have a soul. There is a connection you get when you plan it yourself, work on it yourself, that really brings you to another level with what was previously just a machine. When this car was built, I’n sure the current owner would not have though he would one day own it. And I am sure the soul of this car never could have contemplated it would leave it’s native Japan and get a chance to be reborn half a world away. Like 2 ships otherwise passing in the night, that just happened to stop and grab a cup of coffee together. The relationship with one’s car can truly be a “romance” if you will.

The reason for posting this, aside from it being a sweet example of a Subaru is to try to convey how passionate some are about their cars. Sometimes your project takes a twist and turn you never would expect, but that’s not a reason to give up. Sit down with a beer or 3, reasses the situation, and formulate a plan. When you’ve worked so hard on something, poured so many countless nights into a project, not even a the distance from the mountains of Japan to the US can keep a project down. Will definitely be following the rebirth once it begins here in the states.

Rebuilt Evo Brembo’s – No Core!!!!

31 Jul

We’ve now got a great deal worked out on fully rebuilt Brembo calipers for the 2003-2006 Mitsubishi Evo. These begin as genuine Mitsubishi supplied Brembo calipers. Each is fully stripped down, and rebuilt to as-new condition. Each caliper gets a fresh bright red powdercoating, new pistons, new seals, new bleeder, and includes new shim and pins. Sorry, no Brembo logo’s are included (you can source those at any local place that does vinyl graphics), and for the time being, no other colors are available. Each caliper comes with a 1 year, 12,000 mile warranty as well.

And the best part? No Core! That’s right – no downtime, no core charge, no waiting for the caliper to ship out, be finished, and then ship back. These are in stock, ready to go. That means you can then sell your existing calipers and recoup some funds for other mods!

Front or rear calipers are $480 per pair. Additional discount available if purchased as a set of 4. Compare this to the $1000 PER CALIPER MSRP when buying new from your Mitsubishi dealer! Need new rotors, pads, fluid or brake lines? No problem – just ask and we can put a package deal together for you.

My Fairlady (err, ladies)

23 Jun

One of our long term customers up in Canada sent over these pics last night. Him and a buddy took some sweet shots of their Z33’s. Does it get any better than 2 friends, enjoying their cars, in the nice weather? It’s what the hobby is all about! Cars are looking sweet guys, thanks for the pics.

More G’s Please

25 Nov

I’ve received a bunch of emails that we have great Z content but we ignore the G’s, so here is one for you G35 lovers.

This belongs to Army member Lance, who is stationed in Afghanistan right now. A great example of a well sorted, and ultra clean G35! I wish some 350Z owners would take note of how the G guys do things a bit better. While the Z guys seem to favor wilder bodykits, and less cohesiveness overall, I notice the G guys like to keep things relatively simple, and classy.

Mods include:

Greddy 20g TT kit
Greddy EVO TT exhaust
Wiesco pistons
Pauter rods
Cosworth
UTEC
HKS CAMP2
ACT clutch/flywheel combo
Tein coilovers
Alliance BBK
Work Varianza T1S wheels
Many more mods…

I’ll see if I can find a dyno sheet to show you guys too! Enjoy

Clean Execution

3 Sep

I’ve mentioned one of the best parts of being in this industry is being able to interact with people from all over the world.  The car shown here is owned by Stewart, a good customer of ours from way up in Scotland.  As I recall, Stewart travels alot for his job, so I know he gets a giddy feeling when he’s finally home and can look outside and see his pride and joy just begging for a flogging!   This car has been tastefully upgraded from stock and is just a nice, clean example of what a daily driven Z can be.  You’ll also notice the lovely Aberdeen sky.  Miami has nothing on Aberdeen as far as weather!

The car started life as an ’04 2004 UK Azure Blue GT Coupe (brembos, bose, leather etc etc) .  In the UK, guys were lucky enough to be able to combine Brembo’s and leather early on.  The US didn’t have this option I believe until 2006 (someone correct me if I’m wrong).

Modifications include:

JWT Popcharger
Kinetix V+ Plenum
DC Sports Exhaust

Aerosync bumper
USDM Nismo sideskirts
JDM Nismo Cannards
Dream CustomZ Headlight (Gunmetal gray with inverse audi style LED running lights)
Honda Stubby Aerial 🙂
Tommy Kaira rear badge

Eibach Pro lowering kit
EBC redstuff pads
Privat wheels 20″
Toyo T1R 245/30/20 front, 285/30/20 rear

The awesome photo’s were taken by Adam at ARPhotography.  Check out the site   by clicking here – he takes some amazing pictures!
