More Track Day Shots

7 Jun

This time, an Evo customer of ours from Italy. Actually Cosimo has been a customer for many years now, first with his 350Z, and now more recently with his latest acquisition, an Evo VII. He’s been steadily building it since last year and it’s shaping up nicely! The last batch of stuff we shipped included some track day tires and a Bride Gias seat.

CSL, 350Z Style

11 Oct

First time many might see some of these genuine parts in the flesh. The Amuse kit shown here is known as the “CSL” kit. One look at the fender vents and you know why. While they aren’t my personal favorite fenders, the kit works as a whole. It’s disappointing that this has been replicated so many times, and almost everyone rocks theirs as if it’s genuine. Big time props to the owner for using the genuine parts. It’s even sporting the very rare, and expensive, dry carbon Amuse hood! Awesome photographs too, which you can check out at http://shutterlit.blogspot.com

Sorry Shino and Dom, your companies’ high-end seats and top of the line brakes are not enough to save this vehicle from its inevitable demise.

Proof that a laundry list of high-end top dollar parts will not necessarily equate to a dope ride…

Carefully Planned

20 Sep

So while browsing around Barnes and Noble today, I came across the latest issue of Japanese Performance. At least it’s the latest one on our shelves…we always get the foreign magazines late here. On the cover was a nice, clean red 350Z with Chargespeed body kit and Varis hood. I picked up a copy and headed for the checkout. I get into my car, and thub through it quick and come across the article. In the very first sentence I see “Craig Mudd” and think…hey, I know that guy!

Craig and I share something in common when it comes to modding tastes. Both of us it seem believe less really is more. A huge mod list doesn’t necessarily impress me. Instead, I like a car that is tastefully done, cleanly built and prepared, and that retains enough utility to still have it be a fun car to drive.

All too often in this ‘scene’, you see guys who mod without purpose. They have no plan of attack, and they often aren’t willing to learn even the basics of modding a particular platform. So they end up just buying random stuff, and at the end of the day, they end up with a car that has no balance. Instead of it being a cohesive unit, it just becomes a mish mosh of stuff. While best intentions are certainly a good start, it really takes careful planning to successfully modify a car. To really pull off a quality show winning build, it takes the right mix of planning and execution.

Craig purchased the car Fall of 2008, and by Spring 2009 it was essentially complete. All summer he’s been taking it to shows, taking home trophy after trophy. I think what I like about this car is it represents a real world build. It represents what alot of customers hope to build. Nothing is over the top, and the parts range from common to rare, yet they all just work with one another in unison. The net result has been lots of trophies and several magazine features.

We happily supplied the Invidia exhaust to Craig, as well as his red Bride seats. What I love best on the interior isn’t the stuff we supplied, but rather the flocking that the nearly all the panels were treated too. Not too often that you see such a process on a road car.

I’ve loved working with our Z customers all over the world and helping them put together their dream cars. You can read all about Craigs build on his own site – just click!

The Bride Holding Monster Party Van!

Elephant Skin Bride Brix II

2 Jul

I’m not mad at Bride for always pushing the envelope and bring new creative ideas to our car culture but man looking at these pics makes me wish I still had my British Knights from back in the day (Jordan IIIs also come to mind, sold all the pairs I had of those too 😦 ). Those sneakers were the SHIT!

FWI, these seats aren’t new but I tried finding them posted elsewhere on the net and I couldn’t so I figured why not post them up.

Fugazi Bride (or why you shouldn’t trust your ass to replicas)

29 Jun

Lately, alot of fugazi (fake) Bride seats have been popping up all over ebay, and the usual forums. So Shino and Bun at Lot-USA (Bride Japan’s sole distributor for North America) put together this nice check list on how to spot a fake.

Why fake it? Why trust a vital piece of safety equipment, and a key styling point on your car to a fake seat? Tons of guys out there try to impress people by making themselves bigger than they are…don’t do it, you look foolish. I get it, Bride seats can be expensive (though several models are very reasonably priced!), but if you can’t afford it, don’t worry – there is no shame there. Just save up till you can! Hit up the authorized Bride dealers for the US and see if any of their customers are interested in selling theirs and trading up. Use this guide to spot the fake, and grab yourself a good used set from one of the many forums out there. The end result will be something you’ll be proud of, something that has the right R&D behind it to be both stylish and safe, and something that will last, and hold it’s value for years to come.

Drop Dead (Sexy) Drop Top

20 Jun

Rod (good customer and friend) stopped by with his immaculate Z33 Roadster a couple weeks ago to get some fresh seating. Out came the OEM, and in went the rare Bride Vorga Japan Limited Edition. Now we just need to convince him to do the other side!

One of the cleanest Z’s out there – understated, but nicely modded. Volks, Stoptech BBK, C West front lip, JP Sides…..just a clean example of a tastefully modded Z.

….Slide Away

12 Jun

Our customer John from NJ sent me a few pics last week that I thought were really cool. Admittedly, I’m not into the whole drifting thing, but gotta give respect where it’s due to those who do it, and enjoy it!

John’s Z is a bevy of cool parts that you don’t see everyday….with new stuff coming via “brown” as we speak! Wheels are Logan-san approved!
