Interior Refresh

11 Apr

Personal Works Bell Steering Wheel Combo with Rapfix Quick Release

With the nice weather here, it’s time to do some freshening up. We spend so much time agonizing over the right set of wheels, or the right body kit, that the interior often goes overlooked. Yet this is where we spend all our time! A great way to breathe some new life into a tired interior is with a new steering wheel. We offer a wide range of wheels from Personal, Nardi, Momo, OMP, Sparco, and hubs and quick releases from Works Bell and Momo. No replica stuff, just the genuine articles at great deals. We firmly believe that this is the sort of stuff you do once, and do right. No sense buying a hub that requires you to ditch your clockspring, or renders your horn completely useless. Why bother installing a quick release that gets sloppy and develops slack after a few months of use. Works Bell stuff is all made in Japan, use consistently tight tolerances, and, in a word, lasts. I’ve personally got a Works Bell generation 1 quick release in one of my cars that’s been there for over 10 years and still works great. Buying this stuff correctly the first time is way easier and way cheaper than buying it wrong once and then correcting yourself.

We can help tailor the perfect setup for your needs, for nearly every car out there.

Aftermarket Steering Wheel Packages

3 May

One of the most popular upgrades we offer are aftermarket steering wheels. This is an easy to install way to really dress up your interior and change the overall character and look, as well as feel, of your car.

We offer steering wheels from a variety of manufacturers including Sparco, Personal, Nardi, and OMP.   All are top notch quality, and are made with safety, performance, and longevity in mind.

More wheels can be found on our site: http://z1auto.com/submodel.asp?model=evo&cat=interior

What Will I Need to Install It?

There are 2 basic ways you can install an aftermarket steering wheel to your car. The first, and most cost effective is using what is called a standard length hub + the steering wheel of your choice. The second option is to install a short hub, quick release and then the steering wheel. A quick release will let you easily remove the steering wheel when you exit the car, which is a great theft deterrent.

For the hubs and quick releases, we stick to 1 brand – Works Bell Japan. The reason is simple – hubs and quick releases are all they do, and they are the innovators! While others have tried to copy their patented design, it never looks as good, is complete, or lasts as long as Works Bell. Their hubs all come with everything you need, from plug and play resistors to keep your airbag light off, to the torx wrench to remove your stock steering wheel. The quick releases use reliable mechanisms that will not become loose or sloppy over time, unlike the knock offs (like NRG).

The most popular quick release we offer are the Works Bell Rapfix II. These are an interlocking ball bearing design, and offered in a variety of colors, including red, black, blue, orange, silver. These sell for $325 each

Works Bell also offers a new, less expensive quick release called the QRSII. This uses a sliding lever design, and is a stealthier, less expensive alternative to the Rapfix II. These sell for $240 each

Since there are so many different combinations of steering wheels, hubs and quick releases, it’s impossible to list all the prices here. So, we encourage you to contact us at z1sales@z1auto.com with your exact request, and we can tailor a package specifically for you.

Orange Crush

25 Apr

Just got in the Works Bell Team Orange steering wheels – pretty cool stuff.  I know it’s a bit washed out looking, not sure what I did differently on this pic.  A rare, rare piece indeed (in stock if you want one!)
