New Internal Engine Goodness for your Subaru

Tomei has recently released several new components for the Subaru EJ255/57 engines.

First up, their unique barrel forged piston set. The ellipse barrel shape profile was chosen from the advanced analysis of the analysis distribution of piston temperatures, material properties and the coefficient thermal expansion rates. This allowed our design to use much tighter piston clearances for maximum power range. This greatly reduces blow by gases, friction loss and no noise. This maximizes power and longevity of the piston. Specs: Bore diameter: 99.75mm, 19.5cc dome volume, 380 grams (503 grams with pin)

In concert with this new piston release comes their new EJ26 stroker kit. Tomei has made an option to include their Competition Bearing Series product with our kits. All the engine internals are brought to static temperature (20 degrees Celcius) and blueprinted with 0.040~0.060mm clearance bearings

To compliment the above components, Tomei also has released their newest headgasket design for the EJ 2.5 liter engines. They are all 101mm bores, and offer 4 possible thicknesses: .7, 1mm, 1.2mm and 1.5mm. These are all grommet/stopper types, which are a superior overall design to the OEM bead style. Priced at $114 per pair + shipping.

Let There Be Light (Titanium Inside)

As initially announced here, Tomei finally introduced their ultra lightweight Titanium exhaust and Y pipe for the 2003-2008 350Z. We just got one in recently, and wanted to be the first to show off the actual pictures. The initial impressions are awesome – the quality of the welds, the little details such as the etched logos, spring clips, and price, all combine to make this a terrific addition for the Z. No soundclips yet, as we’re still waiting on the headers to come in, so the engine can be installed, then to the body shop for paint (in other words, it’s gonna be awhile) but we will post installed pics and video as soon as we can.

Tomei Oil Thermostat Killer (fits Evo 7-9)
One of the seldom-weak points of 4G63 is rising of oil temperature. It is seen more often in circuit driving. Evo uses thermo switch that will work when the temperature gets around 85 degrees C. Yet when the oil temp is low, it will restrict oil flow to the oil cooler and raise the temperature of oil consequently. TOMEI oil thermo killer lets oil to flow into the oil cooler constantly regardless of its temperature. Still, it is easy to put it back to stock thermo switch in winter to prevent over cool. The AMS lower intecooler pipe is for intercoolers with stock style outlets on the intercooler (Turbo XS, AMS, ARC, etc.), and is fully mandrel bent, in stainless steel and comes with all required hardware.

Tomei Spark Plug Cover Evo 4-9

This neat accessory for your engine bay has just been released by Tomei Japan. This stylish cover from Tomei is finished in polished stainless steel, and is the perfect way to dress up your dreary engine bay. Since it is slightly raised, ot also allows the coils to cool off properly vs the factory sealed plate, and it also prevents water from collecting and and around the coilpacks Attaches simply and quickly with standard hand tools, and etched with the Tomei logo. Fits all Evo 4-9 models, except Evo 6’s produced from August 1996-September 1996. To fit it to these specific models, you will need the valve cover from an Evo 6 produced after September 1996.

More New Toys Coming (Tomei + 350Z= :) )

Tomei recently announced plans for a new line of Titanium Exhaust systems for several popular cars. The first one coming is the Evo X, which we announced here on the blog last month. I just wanted to share a few pics of the forthcoming system for the 350Z.

The Expreme Titanium exhaust will be out in 2010, and is a single, lightweight exhaust system for the 2003-2008 350Z (including NISMO)

Tomei also has their new metal Super Catalyzer now for the 350Z as as well. They include integrated bungs for wideband 02 sensors, full stainless construction and are 150 cell, so they will flow amazingly well.
