TE37TTAZ33BVolk has been constantly evolving the venerable TE37 over the years. The latest versions are the TE37RT and the TE37 Tokyo Time Attack Progressive Model.

The RT is slightly heavier vs the standard SL, but 6% more rigid. This makes it particularly well suited for track use, and particularly cars running stiffer springs and slicks or R compounds.

Ready for Spring

12 Feb

After last weeks storm, I’m really looking forward to Spring and weekend window-down driving. In preparation, I cleaned up my summer wheels for our 2011 Mazdaspeed 3.

It’s been a couple of seasons since I’ve done this so it was a chore to get the old weight adhesive and road tar cleaned up. The job calls for some simple green, WD40, rubbing alcohol and a few old microfibers. A plastic razor also helps with the tar and adhesive residue once you soak the affected areas in a bit of WD40 to loosen up the grime. A plastic razor won’t scratch the surface like a real blade…

Each wheel took about 40 minutes to clean up and polish with a good cleaner wax like klasse AIO but it’s time well spent. These wheels are now 6 years old and still in decent shape with only minor rash that I’ll touch up and wet sand soon.

A Splash of Color Makes All the Difference

This awesome specimen belongs to a good customer of ours down in Florida. Way too many mods to list, but the pics speak for themselves.

Recycling Never Looked so Good

25 Jun

Back in the winter, Jon traded in his Civic Si and picked up a 2011 Mazdaspeed 3. Since that time, some tasteful mods have been added, but nothing crazy, as the car is already a ton of fun stock. Though he managaged to sell all the mods from the Civic, one thing is making a reappearance – the wheels! Rays 57F (forged) in 18×8.5, this time wearing 245 inch Sumitomo HTRZIII. She’s sittin on H&R springs for those interested. Since these wheels aren’t made anymore, and they were paid for long ago, it only made sense to reuse them on the new car.

Less is more…

12 Dec

Admittedly I’m not a huge Z32 fan but I have to give credit where credit is due. A set of wheels and a drop have really transformed this car from a mundane 17yr old car to a really nice vehicle.

My Fairlady (err, ladies)

23 Jun

One of our long term customers up in Canada sent over these pics last night. Him and a buddy took some sweet shots of their Z33’s. Does it get any better than 2 friends, enjoying their cars, in the nice weather? It’s what the hobby is all about! Cars are looking sweet guys, thanks for the pics.

Nice, Rod (Cleared to Perfection Part II)

8 May

A few months back I posted up some pics of the CE28N Genesis wheels that we cleared for our good friend Rod. He stopped by a few days ago to show me how they look mounted. Time for the Stoptech rear BBK and maybe some bronze accents to really tie it all together? Rod, next time you’re by, remind me, I have the Anniversary Edition “Z” side emblems that would go really nicely.

This is a perfect street car IMHO – clean, classy, single turbo so it has some get up to it…and reliable! Sorry for the crappy pics, my battery was dying 😦

Cleared to Perfection

13 Feb

We recently got in a set of the limited edition CE28N Genesis wheels for a good friend and Z owner. These were released in 2009, as a slightly less expensive version of the CE28. Reports from previous customers were that the paint didn’t seem quite as durable as they are on other colors – perhaps a different process is what makes them cost about $100 less per wheel than a non-limited CE? Anyway, to make sure they stay good looking for years to come, we cleared them here using DuPonts Chroma-Premier clear. This stuff gives tons of depth and a very durable surface. I apologize they are a bit blurry, I’ll get some nicer ones up shortly

Ready for Primetime

23 Jan

Just got this picture from our customer Alex down in Georgia. A few weeks back we sent him a NISMO V3 bumper, and here are the net results. 19×9.5/10.5 (+22?) gunmetal TE37’s, and out back, a Blitz spoiler. Sometimes less is more and with the gleaming black paint, I love how cleanly it all flows.

Car looks awesome, keep up the good work!
