Bugeye’d

27 May

A few months ago I showed off a set of Stoptech brakes that were headed to a customer in Norway. Not long ago, Stewart contacted us again for some new wheels to really help set the package off. We shipped out a sweet set of gold OZ Superleggera’s with Advan’s mounted and balanced (along with a set of Rallyarmor flaps). Clean bugeyes are a bit rare nowadays, and this car has all bases covered nicely. The net result is a pretty slick machine. Next up according to Stewart – what else, more power! We look forward to working with you on it!

Mods include:
MY02 WRX
2.5L closed deck block with forged internals
VF39
APS DR725 FMIC
MT6 STI gearbox
AST Competition coilovers
Whiteline swaybars F&R with drop links
14″ Stoptech front
13″ Stoptech rear
Benched to 340.6hp/474nm of torque

Looks good on this Civic Type R

AMS Carbon/Kevlar For Your GTR

26 May

AMS has done it again, this time with 2 awesome parts for the R35 GTR.

Their Carbon Kevlar roof is 9 lbs lighter than stock. Lowering the car’s center of gravity this much pays big time dividends! But it does so with class, and still accepts the factory headliner.

The Carbon Kevlar trunk continues the trend by shedding 14 lbs vs the factory trunk setup. Fit and finish is spot on, as you would expect.

Both components are offered in your choice of matte or glossy finish.

Nice, Rod (Cleared to Perfection Part II)

8 May

A few months back I posted up some pics of the CE28N Genesis wheels that we cleared for our good friend Rod. He stopped by a few days ago to show me how they look mounted. Time for the Stoptech rear BBK and maybe some bronze accents to really tie it all together? Rod, next time you’re by, remind me, I have the Anniversary Edition “Z” side emblems that would go really nicely.

This is a perfect street car IMHO – clean, classy, single turbo so it has some get up to it…and reliable! Sorry for the crappy pics, my battery was dying 😦

Insert Grape Juice

Nothing much going on today except an oil change for my car. Going to try out a K&N filter this time. No particular reason, except that I ran out of the Wix ones I usually use.

New Product: 5Zigen ProRacer Econ

1 May

Just got word that this part is about to be stateside, and from a cursory look, it seems sorta interesting. There are several ignition/electrical “booster” systems out there which operate at varying levels of success. 5Zigen’s setup appears to target electrical losses at the coilpacks. These are car specific, and offered for a variety of performance cars including the Evo, WRX/STi, Civic, 350Z, 370Z, G35, G37, RX7, RX8 and tons of others.

I haven’t found alot of info, though I did find this dyno test from Japan, done on a 350Z (I’m going to guess it’s a standard DE, non revup, based on the redline).

MSRP is $350 for the unit, and plug and play harnesses range in price from $60 to $200 each. Anyone interested in testing it out for a discounted rate, let us know!
